Tree Fresno is returning to the TREES of Old Fig Garden.

Check-in: Starts at 6 a.m. on Wishon Ave.
Race Times:
7:30 a.m. - ¼ mile Kids' Run
8:00 a.m. - 6.1 Mile Run
8:05 a.m. - 2-Mile Walk and 2-Mile Run (20-Point Valley Runner
of the Year Series Event)
Entry Fee: $10 for Kids' Run; $20 for
2-Mile and 6.1-Mile events

Pick-Up and Pre-Registration ($3 discount):
Thursday and Friday, March 6 and 7 from 3 to
6 p.m. at Sierra Running co. located at the
northeast corner of Friant and Ft. Washington.
Awards:
All entrants will receive a T-shirt. Ribbons
will be awarded to all Kids' Run participants
and unique awards will be given to the top three
finishers in each age group. Winners of the
2-Mile and 6.1-Mile Events each will receive
an award as well as the top three finisher of
each age category in both male and female divisions. |

Awards and Awards Dinner |
| |
For the past twenty years, Tree Fresno and the
Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce have
worked to improve the quality of life in Fresno.
These two organizations are sponsoring THE CITYSCAPE
AWARDS by honoring those businesses that have
exemplified this spirit of community improvement
and civic pride in landscape and beautification
of the area.
To
be eligible, projects must be located in the
Fresno metropolitan area and visually or physically
accessible to the general public. Entries will
be due on Tuesday, July 3rd. Judging will take
place in July.
Project
Categories
- Industrial
Project
- Warehouse, industrial park, manufacturing
plant, or mixed-use office and warehouse
- Large
Business Project
- Shopping center, office complex or free shtaning (Greater than 1 acre)
- Small
Business Project
- Strip mall, freestanding store, convenience
store, gas station (1 acre or less)
- Multiple
Dwelling Project
- Apartment and hotel/motel
- Green Building Project
- Harmonize with the site (i.e. preserving trees and other natural features), building as little as possible (less house = less energy), minimize energy dependence (tight construction and a well insulated structure), maximize resource efficiency (using recycled materials), and demonstrate the beauty of ecological design.
Judging
Criteria
- Does
the project esthetically improve the neighborhood?
- Is
the project compatible with its neighborhood?
- Is
the landscape sustainable and well maintained?
- Is
the maintenance manageable for the long term?
- Is
the integrity of the landscape design coherent?
- Do
the design elements work well together?
- Is
the project well executed?
- Are
the materials and workmanship well done?
- Is
the design innovative and creative?
- Does
this project stand out as unique?
- Is the project designed for the betterment of the community? (i.e. Litter and graffiti removal and enhancement of the area.)
- Is the project designed to consider a minimum of two of the following conditions: native plant selection, % shading, sustainability, drought tolerance, low allergenic plant material, and water conservation efficiency?
- Is artwork used in the landscape and design?
- Is the artwork uplifiting and does it inspire delight in the setting of the landscape?
- Does the project have outstanding use of seasonal colors?
Awards
Two awards may be given in each of the seven
categories in recognition of achievement. There
may be instances when there will be no awards
made in a category.
FIRST PLACE: Plaque for display at the
project site and office
HONORABLE MENTION: Framed certificate.

The awards will be presented at Tree Fresno's
Annual Dinner honoring THE CITYSCAPE AWARD winners
and takes place in the Fall on September 5, 2008.
The
dinner brings together community leaders, activists,
and philanthropist's to celebrate the outstanding
achievements of the award winners.
The
dinner also serves as a fundraiser for Tree
Fresno, drawing sponsors from corporations,
foundations, and private individuals.

Two Cities Marathon and Half |

Join the Legendary Kathrine Switzer for the inaugural Two Cities Marathon located in the Heart of California, central to San Francisco, Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The Two Cities Marathon was added to the popular 7th annual Trail of 2 Cities Half Marathon and both are true World Class Events! This event has it all! Boston qualifier, prize money, finisher’s sweatshirt, brilliant autumn foliage, hot breakfast and our signature ice cream sundae!
