Tree Resources || Questions & Answers
Here are some of the many reasons why we believe trees are an important element in Fresno County's environment:
Why does Tree Fresno Plant Trees?

Trees add soothing beauty and distinction to landscapes. They provide shapes, sizes and textures, bright-colored flowers, fall colors, and interesting shade patterns that have a calming effect on people.
Trees create private areas in landscape and screen unwanted views. They break the monotony of endless highways, ditch banks, sidewalks, and lawns.
Trees' roots stabilize soil, slow storm water runoff and prevent soil erosion.
Trees help keep homes more energy efficient. Deciduous trees can screen low-angle summer sunlight and keep a home cooler, thus reducing energy costs. Because they shed their leaves in the winter, they'll let the sun's heat through to warm a home's interior.
Trees increase property values by making a home more appealing.

They increase an area's tax base by attracting business and tourists this enhances the area's prosperity.
Trees supply oxygen while removing CO2 from the air. They trap and filter dust, pollen, and particulates on their hairy leaf surfaces.
Trees provide psychological well-being, reduce human stress, provide a stronger sense and appreciation of community, enhance resident satisfaction, and increase worker productivity.
Trees provide shade that reduces the direct effect of the sun's rays and minimizes heat reflection and eradiation off hard surfaces, thus causing the buildup of urban heat islands.
Patients able to observe trees experience improved recovery and reduced hospital stays.
Trees reduce noise pollution by acting as sound barriers and diffusing noise so that it is steadier and less noticeable.
Trees can be used to direct, block or deflect strong winds.
Trees provide edible fruit and nuts for people and food and shelter for wildlife.
