organization in Kern County. Their website contains

Urban
Forest Ecosystems Institute
The Institute is based at Cal Poly, San Luis
Obispo. The SelecTree link takes you to a huge
database of trees useful in California landscaping.
Knowing the common name of a tree can take you
to its soil, water and sun exposure requirements,
as well as information about its fruit, leaves,
litter, and how well its root system gets along
with pavement. |

This website is a clearinghouse packed with
information about trees, urban forest issues,
community organizing resources, tree science
and education. Funded by a grant from the National
Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council
(part of USDA’s Forest Service), this has the
breadth and scope of an encyclopedia of trees. |

ACTrees
Mission Statement: To support grassroots, citizen-based nonprofit organizations dedicated to urban and community tree planting, care, conservation, and education.
History: The Alliance for Community Trees was incorporated in 1993 as a problem-solving center for leaders of community-based urban forestry groups. Its founders shared a vision of healthy, functioning urban ecosystems nurtured by a broad base of community stewards. Today, ACT is a growing coalition of 100+ organizations involved in grassroots community greening, public education, policymaking, and other activities supporting better urban forest stewardship. |

Joaquin Valley Urban Forest Council (SJVUFC)
The
SJVUFC, a regional council of the Urban Forest
Council, is made up of municipal, nonprofit
and industry groups from Stockton to Bakersfield
that are interested in promoting sound urban
forestry practices throughout the valley. |

Arboriculture.
By
providing this list, Tree Fresno is not providing
a recommendation about the company or their
services. As Certified Arborists, they have
the knowledge of proper tree care.
None
of them advertise "Topping" in their
phone book advertisement as one of the services
that they provide.
Topping
destroys the natural shape of the tree and jeopardizes
it health, so it is not an acceptable method
of pruning shade trees.
