Urban Greening

Tree Fresno's Urban Greening program expands shade, air quality, and green space in South Central Fresno through residential trees, commercial plantings, and vegetative barriers.

AB617 URBAN GREENING

Urban Greening Is Needed Throughout South Central Fresno

Through this work, Tree Fresno helps bring more trees, shade, and green space to communities impacted by heat and air pollution.

For residents who live in South Central Fresno, this program is financed by the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, thanks to AB617.

Adopt a Tree

Eligible South Central Fresno residents can request a tree, planting support, and care information through Tree Fresno’s Urban Greening program.

Commercial Trees

Businesses, nonprofits, parks, and community-serving properties may be eligible for 15-gallon trees in approved locations.

Vegetative Barriers

Tree Fresno designs rows of trees, and sometimes shrubs, near busy roadways to help reduce the flow of particulate matter into nearby communities.

Partner or Support

Funders, businesses, public agencies, nonprofits, and volunteers can help expand the impact of Urban Greening across South Central Fresno.

More Shade.
Cleaner Air.
Healthier Neighborhoods.

In 2023, Tree Fresno received $3 million in AB617 funding to expand trees and green space where South Central Fresno residents need them most.

These grants support resident trees, commercial plantings, and vegetative barriers designed to improve air quality and create shade in neighborhoods impacted by heat and pollution.

Every tree planted is part of a larger vision: a greener, healthier San Joaquin Valley where everyone has access to shade, clean air, and beautiful green spaces.
